Yacht charter in the Istanbul
Bosphorus cruising, day charters and private events on board.
Chartering in Istanbul is a different proposition from the Aegean. The route is not bay to bay but between two shores: the European and Asian sides of the Bosphorus, the historic waterfront mansions, the bridges and the evening lights.
The most common programme is a Bosphorus cruise of three to five hours. It usually starts off Bebek or Kuruçeşme, passes between the fortresses of Rumeli Hisarı and Anadolu Hisarı, and continues north. In summer, late afternoon departures are preferred so that sunset and the city lights fall within the same run.
Current governs everything here. The surface flow runs from the Black Sea towards the Marmara, with a counter-current beneath it. The captain sets the programme around the current and shipping traffic, which makes departure times less flexible than in the Aegean.
Birthdays, marriage proposals and corporate events account for a large share of Istanbul enquiries. On these programmes the yacht stays under way rather than anchoring at one point.
